Control Youtube Leanback with Nintendo Wii Remote

Youtube Leanback is an interesting experiment that brings a TV-like experience to Youtube.

We earlier gave a sneak preview of how Leanback can be controlled by Nintendo Wii Remote and the product is now ready for download.
The product (still in pre-release state)

  • Allows you to control YouTube Leanback using a Nintendo Wii remote instead of being tethered to a keyboard.  The Wii console is not required, just Windows XP or newer, a Wii remote, and a Bluetooth
dongle (could work with built-in Bluetooth like some laptops have but this has not been tested)
  • Allows you to control the volume of videos while watching, something YouTube Leanback can not do.

This gives you the full ultimate couch potato experience; wireless remote control over YouTube video watching with the Wii remote from the comfort of your easy chair.

Mind you, this software don’t need the Wii console, just the remote!

While this is a good concept considering that at some point of time LeanBack will be integrated with Google TV and something similar will be available directly through the TV remote.
I had an idea similar to leanback (before leanback was launched) a few months back and hence i made http://www.yawtv.com, but overall i feel that sites like hulu.com and netflix.com are in much better position then youtube leanback.
The reason i say this is because this is a content based business and technology is an enhancer or just a ‘medium’.In the long run the company with the better content would win.
By the way i didnot know where else to ask this since i didnot see any ‘contact us’ button on the screens.Hence i am asking here
Pluggd.in is by far the thing that symbolizes for me the change that is happening in India now. the Free press, the unedited thoughts of technology wiz’s. I wish if i could contribute some articles myself, i would feel quite happy.
