I couldn't help but see the irony when he says "It's everything you are into, all in one place, all within easy reach" while literally showing a heap of haphazardly scattered icons from thousands of topics and sites. [at -0:29]

I mean, what exactly are they trying to solve? Becoming a mini browser within a browser?

And when he says, quite proudly, that unlike the "other", they don't want you to be anonymous, it's a little scary for those who know what it possibly means.

I kinda like it. Even if it's a bad add, it's probably promoting better then a good add because of the bloggers that started articles about it. thumbs up for yahoo:)

+1. I liked Yahoo's bold attitude, though I wish even 0.1% of that showed up in the product/strategy.

That smart phone company already kicked their butts on the "You" ad campaign front. Should of just dropped that one. The main reason being, they are once again going about things all wrong. Fist they went after the younger generation market only to find the only reason they may have any money is, they don't spend it. After figuring out the older folks are the ones spending the most, they still try marketing to them in a way that distances them. As tons of semi tech savvy boomers age, Yahoo should be their beacon of deliverance in consumerism. These people feel overwhelmed and need to be led, but they are inherently paranoid byproducts of the 60s-70's. They don't trust intrusive marketing and want their experience to seem exploratory while being totally comfortable and hassle free. In trying to sell an image, Yahoo almost makes it, with the overwhelming pile of stuff the climaxes the spot. They should of somehow had a Yahoo life preserver saving somebody out of the whirlpool at that point. Instead of creating a scary dehumanized face of our greatest fears in becoming part of the machine and losing our true selves. Good old Yahoo shouldn't even be trying to come across as the cool new thing that's somehow better then Google, they should just cater to the overwhelmed older folk who don't want slick, they want simple. As AOL fades away, tons of clueless grandmas await to buy stuff. Lay off the flashy extravaganzas and slick, tech heavy, omnipresent corporate crud, Yahoo. Save some money and actually connect, before it's too late. You fired how many people to waste money on this lame effort, and Bartz' outrageous pay? Toast.

Can somebody put the video on youtube? Can't get it to play :P

In India at least, if yahoo is anyway spending money on advertising, it would do well to try and get new users on Internet rather than targeting the already online users. Targeting them with offline ads is rather wasteful!

The war got bigger eh ? Yahoo definitely seems to have lost major ground in search and to some extent mail. Should I blame the mindset to depend on a "search only" website for information and not use a platform page of services ? Dunno if users will see great value in this ?

About the ad, a direct take and not a good trend. Would actually not go down well with G supporters, who also use yahoo.

While the idea is alright, the comparo isn't, and saying it in this many words - definitely not! It'd be way nicer to see some serious company-wide product management effort to make the products say this out, subtly, and tie in an ad campaign to revitalize those pieces. That'd also make some of the "networkness" work for users, rather than just exist as disparate pieces scattered over Y! and dying a slow death one limb at a time.
