Looking for a Wordpress Designer

I am planning to overhaul pluggd.in and if you are a wordpress designer, I’d want to talk to you.

As far as the new layout is concerned, I have couple of ideas and we can use a base theme and build on top of it. The consulting work is only for layout changes and not really anytihing on logo/seo etc.

But, if you are the kind who would like to charge $1000 for just the css (yeah, one of the desi designer quoted me this a few months back), please do not waste each other’s time.

lol at the $1000 quote… sad but true… I was looking to buy a few developed Indian sites a few days back in digitalpoint.com forums and one indian member pushed me a crap cricket site for around $1500 lol a site that I wouldnt even give Rs.1500 :p another guy was selling a blogger blog for $4000 :o ppl are very greedy nowadays :D

    ok coming to the topic….

IMO this white theme is pretty bland… why not you get a full customised theme… blogohblog.com (jai nischaral verma) is a desi blog designer he is quite popular in the wordpress theme scene… also try premiumthemes.net.. wpremix.com.. other sites to consider are askgraphics.com, uniqueblogdesigns.com (pretty costly >$300 but great themes)

No no no no… I love the current design as it is ! :-(

Well, except that the search box should be moved to some more prominent position like top of the page.

I’m wondering if you guys “laughing” at the prices you’re throwing about in this thread have actually worked as professionals in the industry, or are just hobbiests? While you may not want to pay a certain amount for design, there is as great a range of design prices and worth as there are car prices. And as with a car, nothing more true than “you get what you pay for”.

Dave – One can get neat designs from designers like Brian (and pay more for customization).

I know there could be a designer and a buyer for $1000, but I see most of the good designers selling a custom package for ~500$ (customization included).
Please note – we are talking about wordpress designer and not a regular website design (which I know costs more than $1 K)

    Dave… way to be a smart a$$

we know what we are talking… you obviously dunno what is it to get a quote from some stupid noob designer who doesnt even have a portfolio but quotes in four figure dollars…

“you get what you pay for” any dog can say that… but also there is another saying “sometimes you get the middle finger”

  9. Sanjay on April 14, 2008 at 2:16 pm

@ Jagannath – seems you are out here to talk about the middle finger only…there are better and much more responsive ways to voice your opinion I guess.

@Dave – neat and clean work there man !!

Nice to see the search box in a more accessible place. Thanks :-)

Just one more crib: The Pluggd.in logo itself is not clickable. Only the text below it “Plugin to indian startups and business’ can be clicked to go to the home page.

    Hey Nilesh
Have added the search box on the header :) Also, trying to get the logo clickable…

Basically, the time to get a new theme and work on that is just toomuch and takes lot of time/effort..so for now, I have just improved the theme…

sorry sanjay you might not know how is it to get ripped off by a designer.. maybe that experience is making me talk like this..

and I already voiced my opinion well clearly but the second comment is just a reply to Dave’s provocating statement

btw I’m more responsible while commenting but a few things test my patience and I cant help it ;)
