Tint – The general convention is that he who asks for the meeting pays for the coffee as a gesture of normal courtesy for taking someone’s time and seeking some inputs.I normally pick up the bill for meetings with entrepreneurs in the first meeting as most will testify. My apologies to you for not picking up the tab for coffee. Interesting that the fact of my not picking up the bill has rankled you so much that you still remembers it! I promise to pick up the bill next time if you make the meeting worthwhile.

I agree with what is written in the article. What i had said in the comment was personally experienced. Maybe it was an oversight by Sanjay.

Very interesting article – I completely resonate with what you have said, Sanjay.
I know of one startup (raise $7mn) and now they are shifting to a new posh office. And on top of that, they have hiring very bureaucratic ppl..(as directors)

@Tint – Why the heck do ppl like you tend to make such comments? Read other’s insights and don’t always try to nitpick on others.

Sanjay talks about the merits of entrepreneurs being frugal but in his own life he does not even pay the coffee bill when he meets a boot strapped (and cash strapped) entrepreneur. Amazing!
