We are launching our first full-day super power-packed event, UnPluGGd, that is purely focused on Indian entrepreneurs.
UnPluGGd – What it is not?
First things first, UnPluGGd is not a startup showcase event.
When defining our event strategy, I spoke to whole lot of startups/angels/VCs in order to figure out ‘what’s really needed/what matters’; and showcase event is surely not something that India needs.
Moreover, if you look at the current state of Indian startup ecosystem, most of the events have turned away their focus from
- Startups to VCs.
- Entrepreneurs to Celebrity Entrepreneurs.
- Substance to Hype (being tweeted is more important than adding long term value).
- Quality content to Networking meets.
- Value vs. 5 days of hoopla (i.e. media hype)
Are entrepreneurs really looking forward to such events? All we know is that Indian entrepreneurs need a lot more than that. If we have to build a ‘Silicon Valley’ in India, lets bring in serious content that stands the test of time.
What’s UnPluGGd then?
To give you a teaser, here are a few perception about the Indian startup market
- Internet penetrations in India is too low to build an Internet startup.
- Global brand from India? And that too by a startup? Dream on.
- Technology Innovation from India? What are we talking here?
Well, UnPluGGd is going to break all of this myth. UnPluGGd will bring you startups who have ‘created’ business (and dared to challenge these norms) and are actually rocking as well.
UnPluGGd – Who is it for?
Early Stage Entrepreneurs.
Late Stage Startups.
Those who are mulling over an idea.
VCs who are looking for the next big thing.
Date/Venue?
February 27, 2010.
Bangalore.
More Details?
Will be announced shortly.
Sponsorship/Partnership Opportunity

Looking forward to it.
Great!! Will surely attend that..
Hats of to your new initiative… i think you are way better than WATBLOG anytime!!
.. and the startups in the indian ecosystem need a lot of 'link love' from the major blogs. Starting from you Ashish!
Link love? Yeah we do share that when needed (when we profile startups). But don't wanna start a link sharing practice.
Looking forward to it !
Indian start up ecosystem is not all about impressing VCs. Thank God, atleast Ashish has realized now . Good thinking ashish…kudos to you.
wud surely be a part of it…….thanx pluggd.in
Great initiative by pluggd.in – we need networking forums with substance rather than hype.
That would mean viable business models combined with latest technology trends
All I know is that only Pluggd.in can do an event like this in India.
Look fwd to more details.
How can I help? Let me know…
Well, I know that most of the senior VCs have stopped attending other startup events, since they seriously do not add value.
‘Personal Branding’/marketing takes over and I agree that the entire ecosystem has moved away from the center, i.e startups!
Good luck to you guys.
This would be good, pluggd.in can understand what it needed.
Not sure for attendding, as i may need more detail how many VCs or Angels are visting.
