The Indian PC market witnessed a steep drop in sales during Q1 2009, but Q2 turned out to be a breather with 5.2% increase in the sales.
As per IDC, overall India PC market grew 5.2% during April-June quarter to touch 1.765 million shipments over the previous quarter (source)
PC Market Share
- Desktop PC shipments rose 4.4%, while notebook PC shipments grew by 7.2%
- HP retained the top position in terms of desktop PC shipments with 17.8 market share, followed by HCL and Dell.
- In notebook PC shipments, HP takes the top spot with 30.9% market share, followed by Dell and Acer.
On a year-on-year basis, the decline (or negative growth) is seeing some signs of revival – 22.7% (4Q CY2008 vs 4Q CY2007) to 15.3% in the current quarter (2Q CY2009 vs 2Q CY2008). (source).
