Indian railways is finally giving ears to the public grievances about the 8am-9am blackout. IRCTC has proposed a temporary solution to the tatkal tickets being sold out within minutes after bookings open.
IRCTC will be implementing a time bound ban for e-ticket agents between 8am-9am for tatkal bookings everyday. Also, the 8am-9am slot on opening day of advanced booking will be closed for agents. The solution will be tested temporarily and might be implemented permanently.
Though the fact that someone is listening is appreciated but banning is certainly not a solution. There are many who can get tickets booked through agents only as booking centers are too far and internet literacy is low.
There have been allegations that the public servers are temporarily switched off during the said time, IRCTC should look to scrutinize the whole system for such loopholes.
Anyways, hope their is some relief from this.
Who stands to gain? Netizens. And OTAs?
IRCTC had also proposed to keep online bookings open for 23 hours.

This is indeed a good move. This will apply only for Agents booking E-Ticket. If required Agent can book tickets by being in queue.

you pointed the right thing. agents can still book from a normal user account and in that case they wont be able to misuse the systemm.
How can anyone even think that this is a positive move by the IRCTC. For a little facts, Through out india, there are 8 Lakh Authorised agents ? Instead of improving their own corporate governance, railways wants these 8 lakh agents to suffer. Then why do you issue agencies at the first place? other step should be to enhance the infrastructure and cater to the high demand by providing adequte alternate booking points, I dont think any one would say that i am speaking truth if i say ” I had been to the railway station and returned with the was able to obtain a confirmed tatkal ticket in minutes”. Leave apart the convinience/inconvinience of reaching the railway booking counters at 8 in the morning.
Reach the railway counter at 8 Am and only find a long que. Try to go earlier than 8 to secure a more fronted position in the que, meet our lovely shabby beggars and goons to greet you in the morning asking you to dig a hole in your pocket to secure the premium position in the que. after all this, at 8 am if you are the first person on the counter, wait for the babu of the railways to finish his one or two reservastion slips before entertaining yours. After all this, if any tickets are left, you can well have it.
There is a guaranteed simple solution to book Tatkal during that time! Of course, one has to know how the web works

This was to be done long time back.. because early morning when the website opens most of the agents are logged in and the website is always down with them.
authorised agents mare gaye bhaiya aur dalalo ki mouz aa gayi, ab to dalalo ke aur bhi bhawv badh jayenge. rahi baat server problem ki to mai bhi dekhunga ki kaise sahi chalta hai kyu ki server agent KI WAJAH SE NAHI irctc KI WAJAH SE BLOCK HOTA H.

As per news published in Daily Newspaper Dainik Bhaskar , the IRCTC Tatkal Booking will not permitted for Agent from 8AM to 9AM through http://www.irctc.co.in .
Railway and concern department think that this is the best process to provide confirm and genuine ticket to passengers across the Railway Reservation Counter and they think by this process the black marketing for ticketing will be close.
For your kind information IRCTC server is always disturb at 8AM to 9AM then E-ticket Agent cannot succeed to book ticket so how they go for black marketing.

Tatkal systems for E-ticket Agent then now Full gainer will be station agent .On the station the agent service charge is higher then E-ticket agent service charge .On the station Reservation Counter always be the First Number for Agent. There is no way to first come first ticket for passenger. This Rule is only for Agent. If any passenger wants Return Ticket then Ticketing Staff says One Form One Passenger but this rule is not valid for Agent. First of all they purchased any name of ticket and sale to any person in high rate but in case e-ticket this is not possible. On the station Waiting List ticket you may journey but in case of E-ticket you are not able to journey so here railway is in profit.
Railway department think about only Tatkal Ticket but sometime think about Opening Ticket (booked before 90 days). Full Trains(minimum 500 -600 seats) booked in within minute. All this seats booked by Station Agent in Any name and sale after that but in case of E-ticket this is not possible. Now E-ticket agent depend on Tatkal Booking but there is not any guarantee to success to book this ticket in Tatkal Quota because there is minimum seats in Tatkal Quota so there is little possibilities to get such type of ticket.
Now think for sometimes for those people who living in Rural Area and there is no any such type of station have where Reservation Counter is available .They are fully depend on their local IRCTC Agent because in the Rural Area’s people also have not so literate.

If you living at out station and required to Ticket for return to home then only E-ticket go through email to passenger, If you want credit facility then this facility provide only by E-ticket Agent, If you want to door step service then E-ticket agent be Favorable and such type of many more facilities they provide. They are always favorable for passenger and their service charge is always low in comparison of their services. They provide instant service with genuine ticket.
So if you think bring revolution in Genuine Ticketing System then first provide better server to IRCTC ,if IRCTC server go fast then most of passenger get confirm ticket through IRCTC website but most of the time IRCTC website do not provide better service because their server hang during the peak session (from 8AM to 9AM) . So IRCTC is one and only way to prevent ticket black marketing .

I want to ask a basic question : In case of Waiting List Tatkal Ticket there is confirm only Five to Ten Waiting List (W/L 05) then why Railway issue CKWL/100. This public money called Railway Profit .This is called Railway LOOT and there is not any body kind attention. In normal waiting list ticket issued such type: WL1104/867 then what is happening .How so many waiting list ticket will be confirm? Then why so many waiting list ticket issue by the Railway. This is called direct Railway Cheating to public and in budget shows as Railway Profit.
If you want to change in Railway Reservation System then first change in above type mentioned system.
The poisoner for the passenger is: Railway Station Agent (who provide wrong ticket), Ticketing Staff, TTE, RPF, GRP etc.
So first think that E-ticket agent is always favorable for passenger .There service charge is always lower than Station Agent. Example:- E-ticket agent charge never higher than 50 kilometer journey and wastage of time to get a confirm ticket from station (for Rural Area).

THERE IS A PROBLUM FROM IRCTC WHICH THEY CAN NOT SOLVE .
NOW ALL AGENT WILL LOGIN ON REGULAR IRCTC LOGIN & MORE SERVER WILL CRUSH
NOW RAIL COUNTER AGENT WILL CHARGE MORE & TRAVELER HAS TO PAY MORE TO THEM BECAUSE AGENT RAIL COUNTER TICKET AGENT CHARGES MORE THAN E TICKET AGENT.
THIS IS REALY BAD FOR E TICKET AGENT BECAUSE THEY HAD PAYED MONEY FOR IRCTC E TOKET & THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO BOOK TATKAL TICKET WHICH IS NOT FARE .

I would give only one suggesstion . All corruption mainly start for rail reservation counter , Counter clerk, Railway officer ect. If you barred Tatkal ticket from counter along with Ist day ticket before 90 days. Then all corruption is down or alternately it is compulsory to verify identity for all ticket from counter as well as from IRCTC e ticket then the corruption is minimum and also railway get more revenue by penalty for facke passenger.

I completely support the agent community. The roor of bloack marketing is the railway reservation counter. How can black marketing take place online when even most of the agents are not able to login in the morning due to technical incapabilities of IRCTC. This is a total wrong judgement and this will harm the ecosystem which was well in place. There will mbe more black marketing, more corruption, more touts and more money going out from customers pocket.
stop giving access to the webportal like onestop, suvidhaa, thesmartshop, payworld(sugal&damani group), 3i infotech, sify,etc, as they can book or generate multiple PNR in a minute. so please ban all the corporate agent access,and give access to the agent who uses IRCTC site to book the ticket. it will not affect the general public. the IRCTC team should look into this matter seriously, because intial time there was no problem in accessing the IRCTC site for tatkal booking, the problem came when the IRCTC people give access to the corporate irctc agents who uses software to book the ticket, because of the software only, the IRCTC site is getting hanged/showing service unavailable. the irctc TEam or higer official should look into this matter, and give accessing tho the IRCTC agent who books through irctc website. stop giving access to the corporate agent, who uses software/server to book the ticket. this will surely help the IRCTC to solve the server problem

I am a frequent traveller in Train my comments are : The new rule of banning the eticket Agents is not fair.First & foremost issue is that Railways servers need to be updated and as well the programming language which is used by them is to be upgraded or changed (as I am not aware of the programming language).The problem of not getting the login for a registered member or a Agent to IRCTC website is not new this problem is since 2007.I think the railways have got up from the Kumbha Karan sleep.Even the tatkal scheme which was prevelent during the time of Shri.Lalu Prasad Yadav’s minister regime was good.A passenger was able to book tickets Five days before travel now it is TWO DAYS before travel.Now the railway officials are involved in blocking the seats forget about the touts and agents.I have seen many time that even if you go to the reservation counter for a tatkal ticket just after ONE MINUTE OF OPENING OF TATKAL QUOTA YOU GET A TATKAL WAITLISTED TICKET, how is this possible.Oflate there is a new trend I am watching, is that your TATKAL WAITLISTED TICKET WILL GET CONFIRMED ON CHART PREPARATION but YOUR GENERAL WAITLISTED TICKET WILL NOT.So who is the culprit either the Agent or Touts.I am neither for agent or tout in my finding the railway official and staff members are the big culprits.

This is rediculous to ban tatkal booking at 8:00 AM to Agents , If irctc proposed us not to gain the profit of tatkal , they should refund our agency charges immidiately bcoz after satisfying a lot of customer we are unable to say sorry for tatkal ticket to them, So it would be better that we should leave the agency and IRCTC schemes is the reason for lossing our job , their responcibility is to refund us asap. Either give the preference to agent or refund aganecy. IRCTC is full of corruption it’s known for everyone. IRCTC takes more charges to web portal companies and inspite of giving preference to AGENT it’s working for own business. So Hon Railway Minister , Please Change your system and Close the authority of IRCTC
if the transaction servers are unable to handle the traffic, get better servers and more bandwidth!
I guess blaming the Authorized agents for the inconvenience ti the people is just a way out to hide the mistakes & in competencies of IRCTC, i think the Server of IRCTC is not able to handle the capacities of so many logins at a time. they should check their server or provide additional server capacity rather than blaming the Agents for the same.
Indian Railway does not want to snatch the over income of PRS Ticketing Staff, TTE, GRPF or Dalal. Railway is having sympathy for their lives, So Indian Railay and IRCTC has to allow them to earn openly through DALAL. Magar mere bhai kam se kam agent se jo 10000/- lete ho bo to bapas kar do. AB KHUD KAMAO AUR DALALO KO BHI KAMANE DO. HAMARE PET PAR TO LAT MAR CHUKE HO MAGAR DALALO KA DHYAN RAKHO. OK
This is not a good action now passengers will get more dificulties because thousand of peoples were living in villages and there was no any railway counter. Before it they get tickets from agent any how for their safe journey.
