Revvs.net : SocioNet for Motorsports Enthusiasts

Revvs.net is a newly launched motor sport based social network that is attempting to bring the Formula1 fans together.

Formula 1 is gaining momentum in India and Revvs.net is timing the popularity of sports by including the essentials of a social network on the portal – blogs, news, event calendar, forums and videos etc.

Force India

Revvs has also launched Fantasy Pickem, a game that requires participants to use their knowledge and skill to predict the correct finishing positions of racing drivers in a particular racing series. Fans earn points according to how accurately they predict the official finishing positions of the Racing drivers in a particular race. [source]

Well, vertical socionets do have a chance of success and lets hope Revvs does a lot better than Vijay Mallya’s Force India team, which crashed @ Australian Grand Prix.

What’s your opinion? Is Revvs too niche a site to get sustainable traffic?

nice very nice , predictive preemptive wave riding at its best . F1 will be a recurring event so i guess there will be a seasonal craze and spike for usage in such site . let see how good distribution and advertisement deal they secure . this can be a good ,smart deal if someone execute it well . Goodluck

wat a pity… revvs.com is a parked domain and revvs.in is still available for registering :(

anyway coming to the point its like same thing for all niches… the diehard fans are already hooked up to international sites… unless you have a good desi touch to the new website its damn difficult to get sustained visitors. http://www.team-bhp.com has a gr8 community

at the end of the day ‘stats’ will do the talking ;)

@Jagannath – Interesting find!! too bad that the .com domain is available and these guys havent yet secured that.

I believe this is an interesting experiment – ony time will tell how revvs fares.
I dont think they should position themselves a socionet for indian community (most of the F1 enthusiasts are beer-drinkers who love to gather @ a pub and watch the race, while gulping!). The loyal user base, as far as I know is very small.

those who love speed, love style also.
i think site should have looks according to that. and change names from “blog posts”, “recent videos” to a more appealing name. site should have a buzz ready on its home page to ensure user acquisition.
interest is not just about winning and loosing. its more than that. before trying to get a new visitor straight to the discussion forum i feel they should be served some quality articles, videos on front page. you can even let users navigate users to other places where they could find an interesting video. obviously keepin in mind that you don’t loose business by doing that. A simple task in that case will help site improve its image and perception.
