BigAdda claims to have 1.5 million users and is adding 15,000 users daily. The social network is
targeting 4-5mn$ in a year and is betting big on it’s mobile presence.
“We are reaching out to 40 mn internet users in the country, and with us going on to mobile platform, we will be able to reach to 50 mn mobile internet users. We have just started getting revenue and in these three months it is not an amount which is quite big. ” – BigAdda.com COO Shivanandan Pare
Few inflated numbers (IMO):
- Statistics say about 56.6 per cent of net users log onto their communities’ every day and about 70.4 per cent interact with other members of their communities
- MobileAdda’ version of BigAdda.com for cellphones, expects over 300 mn users
Well, user base is one thing and engagement is completely a diff – and BigAdda’s user engagement shows up in their Rock On microsite (read our earlier coverage of Rock On Movie: FaceBook vs BigAdda’s Social Conversation)
What can really work for BigAdda is their interplay between different media (and sales) and most importantly, their deep pockets, which can help them survive the tough times.
Whats your opinion?

I don’t know for how long, will Bigadda survive but one thing is for sure that neither ibibo nor Bigadda will catch up Indian mkt in BIG way in the future as it is already captured by orkut & nobody has so plenty time to login to 2-3 social networks to meet up with friends or start building online network of friends again. Most of the guys have done it once on orkut & find it useless to do it again on other sites.
Say WHA?
they expect 300mn mobile users, ..err ‘over’ 300 Mn users,I’m sorry.
hey isn’t that more than the mobile database, and i wouldn’t buy it if they say it’s globally speaking!
it’s a bigfadda, i say.
wow..thts a claim too big.. I know they r our competitors but still I would like to challenge that claim.
jhoot
thhhrreee hundrred million mob users!!!
jhoot jhoot … i hv nothin els to speak
As far as I know based on my conversations with various people in the field and even from the horses mouth.
No one in the entertainment oriented social networking space is making any money and they themselves don’t see any hope unless they reinvent themselves. Many are now looking at connecting their models to the education sector.
Many including Facebook are getting revenues but profits is still a big ?
We at Kreeo realized it before we started and were focused on a more meaningful , knowledge networking model with enterprise relevance. No major success story to share as yet (still in closed alpha) , but initial response from alpha users and enterprise prospects in very positive. We believe our fundamentals are solid and “we shall overcome”
wow! that’s a mind boggling number! I believe that its possible! Many people a social networking site for some reason or the other and join in new social networking site!
