One-time wonder Sabeer Bhatiya has done it again. This time he has launched a social networking site called ApnaCircle.
In the untapped social networking market in India, ApnaCircle stands out:
Apnacircle.com is an online social and professional networking site that is created to connect you with people, friends and even unknown acquaintances who live, work or stay around you. The social network of Apnacircle.com can help you maintain your known relationships with scraps, uploaded photos, customized messages and establish new relations by reaching out to people you’ve never met before.
Wow! I am excited to see pathbreaking features like scraps, photos and customized messages (how original and creative!).
Aren’t you excited about ApnaCircle? I am sooo excited!
PS: Sorry about being a little sarcastic, but I don’t understand the rationale behind all these social networking site. Why should one use that? Are we not meeting enough of strangers (i.e. mostly recruiters) through LinkedIn and old friends thru’ Orkut? Why apnacircle or teracircle?

I think people who already connected will not use apnacircle but upcoming students [like those passing out from Class X and Class XII and Beyond] who are not hooked in to these SNS may use indian SNS if they advertise their products smartly like BiggAdda [i like their ad not product as it is mee too].
albeit sabeer[with his crony] is creator of killer s/w HotMail, he could have created another breakthrough technology if he is the real man who brainstormed/stumbled upon “HotMail”.
Well, Sabeer Bhatiya has been rolling out average products right after his hotmail days.
Though I dont care whether he is a one-time wonder guy, but my question to him would be why the hell does he has to launch such stupid products? He might have surplous cash and doesn’t know what to do with it..
As far as ApnaCircle is concerned, I dont even want to register there..it looks like a class 10th school project.
Interesting positioning. Think of an apartment building situation. 700 odd flats and you know only the ones living on your floor. And you have been unsuccessfully trying to know that goodlooking college-goer in Daffodil block. I think this has great potential for professional as well as dating networking. The best part is that it would be easy to supplement the vitual with real meetups (or other way round)
I would jump at this. But like any social network, the power is in who else is on.
Hey Shourya
Your comment sounds like an ideal world scenario! The way I look (and use) social nets is to keep separate my friends and the strangers. For e.g. I never mess around with strangers in orkut – it’s only for friends. At the same time, LinkedIn is all for strangers !!
Most importantly, I dont see any reasons behind using ApnaCircle- what’s their strategy to trigger the network effect? I, for sure have no idea and no clues on that!

“connect you with people, friends and even unknown acquaintances who live, work or stay around you” — I think this threw me off. I was thinking there would be a mash of features like “Search for friends in your pincode”, tied with Google Maps etc…but see none.
I went over to apnacircle and read the FAQ ( http://www.apnacircle.com/FAQ.htm ); nothing quite like that. Maybe I was reading too much into what you quoted (source?).
I must admit I have not registered, so not quite checked out all that this has to offer; then again, the site did not interest me much to register.
You wrote “untapped social networking market in India”; I took it to mean that it would have some Indian connections / relevance. Other than the fact that Sabeer Bhatiya sounds like a familiar name that one could associate with the Indian sub-continent, I found no other indication.
This looks like yet another SNS, I see no particular USP, yet.
See,clout may matter in some cases!
