Hi,
We at Marcus evans are organising a Corporate Communications conference next year in India and i have incorporated a topic on corporate blogging. I was wondering whether i could get any recommendations for speakers to come onboard the event.

Chris
I agree with your pt. of view - but SEO need not be the most imp. goal for corporates to blog (If you are talking about startups, I agree).
Building authority is very imp. and that's what SMB corporates are trying to do, while biggies are attempting to get closer to customers..

Telling a story? Anyday! Any good blog should do that!

Wow...I'm not sure I agree here. Most businesses, and especially startups need to focus on demand generation, credibility and as Seth Godin says: "creating a story"

http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2008/06/five-easy-piece.html

The goal of Corporate Blogging is A: To be found...which means Search Engine Optimization. B: Engagement...credibility and the passion of what you are doing and why people want your product & service.

Top down blogging has very little tangable value. Widespread employee blogging offers huge benefits. Richard Edelman of Edelman PR says that employee bloggers are 5 times more credible than C-level bloggers.

Every organization on the planet needs to humanize their business, tell there story...and tell that story frequently and passionatly..with as many different voices as possible.

Best,
