Politicians gets adsense(d)

BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, L K Advani very recently launched his blog and is now going full steam on marketing it as well.

L K Advani - Adsense(d)

What’s interesting to note here is that politicians are getting net savvy and are using the power of social media to reach out to people – apart from generating conversation and debate, its’ also a cost effective means to reach out to engage people.

What’s your opinion?

On a funny note – Will Congress blogs have ‘RSS’ feeds? :)

Search for Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi or Prime Minister of India on Google and you’ll see an ad from Mr. Advani. The guys handling Advani’s net campaign seemed to have done their homework. Search for Pakistan and you see and ad about BJP’s foreign policy which again leads to lkadvani.in. Interesting!

After the recent 2.5 crore heist at BJP Headquarters, I am not surprised if they find more (politically) unconventional ways to raise money :)

On a Serious note, How many netizens in India actually vote?

    • Ashish on January 13, 2009 at 8:36 pm

@Naman, Honestly – very few. Netizens tend to do anything that can be tweet-ed, fwd-ed..but when it comes to real stand, I see a completely different point of view. Have felt this over few blog posts @ pluggd.in + generally as well.

In the good old days, Gandhi and Nehru travelled (Third class) to meet their voters personally. It cost the party (and the nation a lot less. And produced better results. These new breed of politicians do not have time to meet their voter personally. I know that once elected they do not have time but now even before being elected they do not have time!!! If you don’t give your customer personal attention he’ll go to the shop where he gets it!!!
