@sturaga

Nice article. If u set aside the model of how to build valuation like Hotmail or Facebook ... this is an excellent reference of building a good business ground up. Congatulations (BTW ... we use MobMe a open2save ... and I know there is a lot more to their model than YET-ANOTHER-SMS provider ... urge others to look closely)

I doubt about that.
Do you have any examples to prove your theory?

Great blog! In addition to all the useful things mentioned in the article, I liked the fact that Sony didn't try to over-sell his entrepreneurial skills.

Sony, all the best...you will surely grow bigger.

You are right .. the MobMe story is quite inspiring ..
and We need more such inspiring stories in India and not cynics like me commenting them down..
So, apologies for the earlier comment.

As for my identity, it's not mentioned since it is not important in the context.

Bajirao - these are Sony's personal experiences. and if you look at mobme traction in the market, I would say it's fairly sucessful (its a relative term- you can still say Google isn't a successful co.)

And btw - it always helps to comment under your real name!

Everything else is ok. Not sure that the benchmark/example you give above is correct. What makes you think MobMe is a success story? Is it just their self professed propaganda?
What are the parameters for so called 'success' in a startup according to you?.

Mammukka is one of the most tech savvy persons i've ever known. He's so up to date with technology & gadgets, everything from macs to mobile phones to cars to software to what not. Maybe that was one of the reasons for getting along so well when we first met him 4 years back.

An amazing individual, an inspiration when it comes to hard work & dedication and 'Sky is the limit' attitude. Have helped us a lot so unconditionally & helped us network better too. Being an entrepreneur you need to get different perspectives & his was one of a kind. Really good insights into branding as well.

Not many people know this, but he runs an IT company of his own too. Really caring as a person, used to be concerned with even our exams getting affected with too much time being spent on starting up. Really one among the 'Angels' we have had as a mentor, in more ways than one.

Team is necessary, very essential indeed. You have to have at least one more person on your boat in times of setbacks.

Very interesting start-up ... and inspiring blog from a just out of college entrepreneur.

Very open portrayal of the mind of a startup.... I liked the part on mentorship especially the following words...

"Do not give out any equity/money for mentorship based on future deliverable & verbal guarantees"

@Joy I can understand your link with other angels... what is with Mammooty ? Interesting to note that Mamooty is involved in motivating technopreneurs.

Good Luck guys.
