OrderMonger shuts the service

Hyderabad based OrderMonger (read our earlier review), has decided to shutdown their service.

“We regret to inform you that OrderMonger.com will cease all operations from Oct 1, 2008. This decision has been taken predominantly due to non-viability of the business while maintaining the high Service Standards we intended to provide. However, we will honour all of the existing orders which have already been placed in our system.

On behalf of OrderMonger, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued loyalty in choosing us as your preferred service provider for the past two years.” – the last blog entry

What went wrong?

The business had a high operational cost and was into too many things (booking car rentals/food, groceries etc). The site (as I mentioned earlier in my review) was very well designed and had good traction – but the challenge (as I see) was to get that ‘mass’ adoption.
And that’s where most of the startups have serious challenges.

Nevertheless, it was an interesting concept and did solve a pain – we hope the founders work on something bigger and better.

What’s your opinion on OrderMonger?

Thanks Arun for the info.
