Sanjay Swamy, mChek CEO has decided to hang his boots for a while and has decided to take a break from corporate life.
I’ve had great support from all of you over the past 4 years of building mChek from nothing to a fairly well known and growing company – all of you have given me a lot of encouragement and personal support and have been rooting to make mChek successful. We’ve won a ton of awards – Global awards at GSMA, TiE awards, Red herring awards, etc.
After all these days of breathtaking excitement, I’ve decided to hang up my boots for a while and am taking a break from the corporate world – beginning tomorrow i no longer will be employed by mChek and I will be a free bird. – Email from Sanjay.
Sanjay and I go a long way – I worked with him @ Ketera, a KPCB funded startup and have been in constant touch with him during his mChek days.
Apart from being a great marketeer, Sanjay also proved his mettle by taking mChek to such a great level. Be it about the PR skills (look at their international coverage, how many Indian companies can boast of the same?) or about taking strategic decisions with operators (the underdogs?), Sanjay has taken the company to a new level (and in a way, helped define the mobile payment economy).
The company now needs somebody who can operationalize the entire growth story and take the company to next level.
What next with mChek? We will update the post with details on Sanjay’s replacement.

There are others who only talk about retiring early but some have the courage for it.
I believe coming out of the ecosystem takes as much courage as plunging into it.
its not that he is retiring, but he is taking a break..
take your pick:
will he come back
a) in Mchek as employee?
b)with another startup?
c)as mentor/investor?

TitleLess@chilling … that is really cool than chilling
… there are millions of them but putting it on the professional network … Good luck.
What’s the inside scoop, Ashish, since you know him for a while? I heard rumours lately that mchek was laying off in Bangalore.
mChek has laid off all but 25 employees in Bangalore and Mumbai since it is going to to tie up again with its parent company-A little World. They are just trying to sustain and survive. mChek will not be able to sustain this horrific experiment that it has undertaken. It will close shutters within couple of months.
