Sachin Tendulkar Pitches Sixes on Twitter Trends!!

arvind | November 5th, 2009

Ok. Sachin Tendulkar is on the Twitter Trends today! Thanks to his exhilarating performance off the bat. Even though personally I am not much of a fan of Cricket, but when it comes to Sachin Tendulkar on the pitch, like everyone else, I too somehow get involved with the game. Such is his aura. Respect is the only little thing that we humble souls can offer to a man of his talent.

What is more relevant at this point of time however, is to point out to Mr. Sachin Tendulkar about the “untapped” fan-base of his on Twitter. With whom he or his PR firm could engage with. Although there is an account name @sachintendulkar which has about 11k followers, but since the account is not verified we are not sure about the genuineness of the person behind. Besides 11k is a very small number of followers for Sachin Tendulkar.

We believe that Twitter is a must have direct-interaction-platform for Sachin Tendulkar(genuine one) to connect directly with his fan-base. Making it to Twitter Trends shows the potential already. A verified account though would do him, perhaps stop some fanboys taking away the steam of the name. Congratulations to Sachin for today’s performance.

    @ srikanth
may be arvind is an ABCD so not fan of cricket

but i feel odd when i come across a fellow indian and he says he is not a cricket fan

    • arvind says:

lol. I hate cricket, really. n I was born n brought up in India, and will continue to remain here only. I am an avid supporter of “Chak De” story!

        @arvind
thanks for clarifying that up. I dont want to drive the discussion towards cricket vs hockey or (cricket vs baseball)… however, as @sandeep guessed, I did think that you are an American and didnt respond positively towards your interest on Cricket. Since this is pluggd.in, I expect the author to be engaged with “Indian” environment.

I’m in US, btw and still love Cricket…greatest sport ever, in my view.

dude Sachin is one of the humblest stars out there. I do not think he’d involve himself into twitterdom.

  6. Abhishek says:

Sachin is a genius, he is a god to us.
We really don’t care if someone for publicity says that he doesn’t like sachin and cricket.
Wake up to the rise of cricket u cricket haters.

  7. Sashank says:

Does this signify the popularity of sachin in global twitter community or the large Indian user base of Twitter.

    Remember Diwali also trended

    • arvind says:

The event does show the “strength of Indian user base@Twitter” … that’s for sure. regarding popularity of Sachin, do you have even the question?

    Disclaimer: This is a rant.

When I read this post, I was like – WTF – I didn’t like that it was so frivolous, that the screenshot provided was terrible and that the story is unrelated to what you have been covering for long.

I have retuned 3 days later and frankly, I feel the same way. Buck up Pluggdin. I don’t want you to become a news aggregation website. I love you guys and only wish you the very best, please bring us the original content of yore!

    Sincerely,
    Asfaq
