SaaS gets another boost – Tata to distribute HyperOffice Collab Tools
Saas business in India is rolling and while Microsoft recently launched it’s online business services in India, telecom operators have started rolling out collab tools in partnership with SaaS players (BSNL:Microsoft, Airtel’s SaaS bet).
Tata Indicom has partnered with HyperOffice to offer latter’s online collaboration tools to it’s subscriber base – and plans to deploy a private-labeled version of HyperOffice to its subscribers in the third quarter of 2009.
This is an interesting move as businesses/consumers’ most important touch point is telecom operators, and anything that comes along with the Internet connection has a higher chance of usage (push vs. pull).
What’s your take? Have Indian SMBs matured enough to move to SaaS offerings?

Question to Zoho team – are you even looking at Indian market?

It’s great to see an Indian alternative to the crowded collaboration space.
SaaS has indeed come of age, and not just in collaboration, but also as a credible means of proving to customers the solutions ability to deliver.
We, at Findability Sciences, have been using SaaS for the past few months to deliver information access and BI solutions to our clients. SaaS’s non-intrusive deployment, lower costs and user-centric-fine-tuning wins over clients soon; making most eager to commit even greater by locally installing the same solutions!
BTW, even our developers love SaaS!
Cheers!
