RIM wins dispute against Indian firm

The Canadian phone maker had challenged the registration of three domain names — blackbberry.com, blckberry.com, and bllackberry.com — by the MumbaiDomains, a Mumbai-based firm, at the WIPO, stating they were similar to its trademark Blackberry, and could be confused with it.

Shailesh Rao is Google India MD. IAMAI has also appointed Sanjay Aggarwal, general manager, operations, IRCTC, has been appointed treasurer and head of finance of IAMAI.

Doordarshan plans to offer Mobile TV services

Doordarshan has decided to offer mobile television services on a private-public partnership (PPP) basis. It has invited expressions of interest from prospective consultants to draw up a roadmap for implementation.

Mobile TV services make it possible for subscribers to view TV programmes on handheld or portable devices. Doordarshan had earlier launched Mobile TV services on a pilot basis in parts of Delhi using the DVB-H technology from Nokia.

DoT mulls uniform licence fee for all types of telecom services

The Department of Telecom is considering doing away with the existing variable licence fee structure for telecom operators and replacing it with a uniform rate for all types of services.

Congress beat BJP in Advertisements

IMRB undertook a study to test the political ads released by the two major parties – Congress and BJP.
Averaged across the two ads of each party, the Congress ads were liked more by 74 per cent of the target group, while the BJP ads were liked better by 54 per cent. Of all the four ads, Congress’ ‘Jai Ho’ was liked best by 76 per cent of the TG, while BJP’s take on Congress’ ‘Jai Ho’, called ‘Bhay Ho’, simply did not work.

The facsimile edition of The Wall Street Journal and the Indian edition of Forbes, the magazine famous for its global billionaires’ list, will be launched next week
