Reliance has launched it’s local search service, BigMaps on it’s GSM network and claims 20+ Mn geoc-coded buildings across India. The service, available only to RCom users (and not on the website) intends to offer maps data across 15 zoom levels and real time landmark based routing.
What’s interesting to note is that Reliance is also working on MapMaker tool (on the lines of Google MapMaker?) that will enable user participation and in turn, will en
rich the data quality.
If you are a Reliance user, please share your feedback/review of Bigmaps and do tell us whether it lives upto the stated numbers/data expectation.
Also, check this interesting discussion on BigMaps.

Hate to be a sourpuss but it gets my goat everytime I see the mistake with “it’s”. So, Sorry Ashish, let me get my spleen content out.
It’s is a truncation of “it is” or “it has”. If this substitution makes sense in the sentence go ahead and use it. If not, it’s its; the latter is a possessive pronoun – in this case answerable by asking the question “whose local search service?” That would be Reliance.
you haven’t mentiond where Reliance is sourcing the mapping data from.. is it Navteq, Europa or is it ISRO’s Bhuvan :O ?!
The interface is pathetic like all reliance services I have used.
Reliance should stick to what it does the best – cheat people of their money.
