Congrats #Rakhi for Entry Into Twitter’s Trending Topic (You just made us feel #stupid)

Can’t help congratulating Rakhi Sawant for making an entry into Twitter’s trending topic (and ofcourse for finding her ‘dream man’ ).

Rakhi Sawant ka Swayamvar - Trending Topic

I watched the entire Rakhi Sawant’s swayamvar saga (or drama?) on Twitter and Rakhi’s entry into Twitter’s trending topic shows the impact celebrities have on Twitter (the last trending topic from India, #mumbairains).

No matter how much you hate to read this, but the reality is celebrities rule the world and most importantly, people have lot of time to waste – on lot of things that the intellectual side of the brain says NO to!

Are you building products keeping such intents in mind?

What’s your take?

While no doubt Rakhi ka swayamvar is one of the topics that is being tweeted pretty often, I think “Rakhi” broke through the trending topics as Rakhi is round the corner. (5th August right..?)

I searched Rakhi on twitter and while tweets about Rakhi Sawant were the norm, there were a couple of tweets like “rakhi up..time for presents”…

Ms Sawant alone couldn’t pull it off and has surely been helped because her name matched the festival which happens to be this week.

Not true. Rakhi fest is hardly 1% of the entire tweets that were sent yesterday (things might change from today – till tomm)

I am not convinced…Rakhi Sawant isnt the only rakhi happening right now. The festival is very likely bigger than the woman.

I am also very curious how you managed to arrive at the 1% figure? How do you distinguish tweets about the rakhi festival?

Now-a-days things which are done in a peculiar way draws someone attention. Rakhi’s marriage is done in a way something different in comparison with other marriages. So obviously it drives some attention. Moreover media is behind this (dont forget this). Where media goes, everything is hyped as sensational :) ;)

    4. Yeah we all hate her and still we follow her, that’s the power of celebs in our country or maybe in other places as well. but seeing the TRP’s i must admit that there is something to learn from her about Branding, which i wrote here http://bit.ly/bH4LX :)
