Most important is If you have an excessively long web page you may want to split it up into parts. This way you’ll make the parts load faster and won’t be scaring people off with an extremely long read.

The WP-SuperCache plugin is indeed a very important one if your blog makes it to slashdot or techcrunch. It handles the sudden spike very well, else you might end up getting Internal Server errors (500) all over your website, the moment you are slashdotted or whatever.

I have been through both sides of the coin... so it is always better to have the WP-SuperCache plugin turned on. You never know which post of your makes it to the grand daddies of Social Bookmarking!
