very rightly said... but u know what the problem is with OSS... or lets put it down to OS right now.. as everything boils down to that..

for the layman .. the OSes of OSS are too overwhelming... i agree one gets to have a choice.. but with the current OSes out there... the choice is one too many for the likings of me.. i know.. i can spend some time and decide something decent... like an ubuntu... but even then.. with kubuntu xubuntu and zubuntu (i know this one doesn't exist or does it.. u get my drift??) .. it's really boils down to which one...

maybe.. OSS needs a tyranical dictator like MS Windows... something larger than life in OS... where everything halts.. something like .. one size fits all.. and probably then more ppl would enjoy OSS ...

This is probably more convincing than many other rabidly foss-ilized povs I've read.
[ Oh, and I just solved someone's CF card issues on Ubuntu this evening that he'd been stuck with on his 'usual' setup :D ]

Hi Raseel,
I loved the way you have written about open source software.
This is a perfect article, for people who doubt this technology...and for novices like me...

Hi Keshav, thanks a lot for the encouragement. I plan to cover a wide variety of topics on Open Source software for non-technical people.
Just a quick disclaimer : I don't hate Microsoft. However, I do think that most open source software is far more superior.

I really like that a topic like Open Source is being covered and endorsed despite Microsoft being a sponsor of this website. Way to go Ashish. I like to read more articles and get a comprehensive coverage on this subject. Raseel, you could write about how non-geeks could use OSS or help the community.
I recommend Open Source...sorry...Free Software enthusiasts to read
“Free Software, Free Society: Selected Essays of Richard M. Stallman” - http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/fsfs/rms-essays.pdf
