Nokia N900 users – you can stop spending money on scanning documents. A new app, FrontView900 easily converts your phone into a scanner – and all that for free.
The app (link) uses the inbuilt N900 camera to take snapshots of hand written notes, typed document, name card, etc and converts them into a flatted document image by de-skewing automatically.
Some of the interesting features are
- Image de-skewing – Convert perspective view image of hand written drawing / notes to front view
- Paper auto-detection
- Manual/ semi-automated detection mode for complex image (e.g Use stylus to draw out the input region, the region will be corrected by FrontView900 automatically.)
- image crop , rotation etc is also supported.
Here are the screenshots
Cool. Isn’t it?

Superb! This is an interesting innovation in phone technology. The fact that the scanners that we use in Document Scanning is now available in a phone means that the industry is advancing all the time. Clients will now be able to index invoices digitally by scanning it with an I phone, which would then be indexed on software such as our Web Hosting for Document Storage.
