Roundup of new launches in Indian Internet space: SecondShaadi, Pinkvilla, Kyazoonga
Quite a happening day in the Indian Internet space – we had three launches but at the same time I am quite skeptical of these products, so treat this post as a FYI.
SecondShaadi.com
Started by Desimartini guys, secondshaadi is an attempt to provide a platform for individuals seeking remarriage. Though the idea has a potential in India, only time will tell how such sites fare in the future.
Kyazoonga
An online movie ticket booking service, Kyazoonga aims to cover all the multiplexes booking in major Indian cities. Very neat concept (somebody rightly said, web2.1 is about meta, meta and meta web!).
The service is currently available in all the major cities and I do expect KyaZoonga to get popular among the netizens. What I really like about the site is their “Kya” branding – KyaYaar, KyaChing (rechargeable membership card), KyaBoli.
Kyazoonga charges Rs. 10 per ticket, which is a fair amount to part with.
The site has a long way to go when it comes to usability (and content), but as long as they get the basics right, they have the eyeballs.
Competitors in this category: Multiplexes’ own booking channels (like pvrcinemas) and tele-booking services.
PinkVilla:
A social network, PinkVilla targets the most active blabbers in any network – Girls, girls and girls!
PinkVilla is purely a forum based network with focus on fashion, beauty tips, makeup, weight loss.
Their competitors in this category: IndiWo, StyleKandy, Sunsilk’s GangofGirls.
What do you think of these launches? Are they really worth talking about? I really don’t have much to say on these sites – they all seem to be half-hearted effort (maybe, except Kyazoonga) with no serious thought process.
I might be wrong. Tell me what do you think?
Get the latest buzz.

You are right dude…
And I AM shocked to see somebody interviewing secondshaadi guys… its a shame that ppl dont hv even the basic understanding and they tend to interview such creepy ppl.
hope sanity prevails among Indian bloggers and these site guys..
I don’t understand what these desimartini guys are trying to prove. With so many start-ups, are they planning to make some record. It speaks about their utter un-professionalism and no-serious approach about their venture. They should better focus on one area and try to come up with some real value for users.
Kyazoonga seems to be ok, but just providing a link to the website’s won’t help. They should try to make Kyazoonga as one entry platform all ticket-bookings.
Pinkvilla might be good for girls but arrangement of content is very confusing.I couldn’t figure out anything useful.Looks like a gossip site for girls.
All the best to all three of you.
Second shaadi: Crap, such a waste of time,
such crap ideas, would only defame the INDIAN startup prodigies!
and there r more defamed people who interview them to gain more public purview, how would secondshaadi do something good for indian community?
to match them its DESIMARTINI who does things, GOD bless them….common guys, don’t offbeat try doing things becoz u hold a marketing degree, show something which is atleast worth!!!
Secondshaadi is the same guy behind IndianRadar right? Has he realized that all of his half-hearted ventures are BIG TIME failure?
Its a shame that bloggers in India talk about such sleazy ppl..
Its really sad that when you use a country’s language’s word in your web address, you represent the country, and these guys have done it in quite a bad sense.. Its also a convenient way to say we’re the first losers to do that..
Pinkvilla is pure hoot.. I dont understand girlism and feminism! I completely feel that its a form of racism to identify a community by gender.. GOG should also follow the lines of the same.. There is absolutely no need for anything like that unless its for gossip(As AAKASH) mentioned earlier.. And historically, this has always become the case.. As with orkut, i wont be surprised if there are more male users at Pinkvilla and GOG more than females.. The mentality of the web user is such that they make use of it to check out profiles rather than share and discuss ideas and stuff..
Desimartini and SecondShaadi.com should realize that they cannot make prescence by quantity of ventures!
I wont be surprised if these guys start a THIRDSHAADI.com!!
Kyazoonga have some neat concepts in hand..
Idea of thirdshaadi is hilarious !! I am sure desimartinin guys will launch something similar! how come they havent launched sites for gay/lesbians?
Pinkvilla is a pure drupal site with no direction..I really dont know how and why such sites are created.
May god bless all such site ppl.
Of the indian social networking sites targetted towards fashion/bollywood/beauty. I think Pinkvilla (http://www.pinkvilla.com) is right up there. Their content is far better than the rest iof the compettion. UI is more cleaner than rest, though i think a little tweaking here and there will help as well.
Other sites like indiwo, stylecandy, gog etc. are too cluttered, and its content is mostly genererated by the so called experts and user content is highly controlled.
pinkvilla’s content is totally user generated, articles are rated by based on hits.. totally driven the user.. I think this is one site to look for in the near future. do you have any info about the founders or where its based off?
Second Shaadi: I dont know if this is a viable concept for India. May be its too early for the Indian crowd
Kyazoonga: I think this is a great idea and may have a bright future.
Pinkvilla: Having a teenage sister, I Can say that girls dig these kind of stuff and the site has all what a girl wants. It will hit off if the female population like it and that is for us to wait and watch.
Could you pass soem additional information on Pinkvilla owners. I am a girl and I completely love the site and am sure all girls will love it. Guys’ opinions dont matter here , am i right.
I want to find additional information on the site owners. could you pass it to me. i looked over the net, but could not get any info..
Hi Prerna
I agree with you that guy’ comments may not make sense.
Well, such SN sites need to drive people in certain direction..and I hope PinkVilla does that.
As far as pinkvilla’s contact details are concerned, well I know where do they work (thanks to my analytics software), but I guess can’t mention it here
people who are awestruck by kyazoonga, should just check out bookmyshow.com. Well its a class apart, .. with a cool web 2.0 built up.. range of cinemas in all cities, ability to select the seats yourself with a real time online seating layout. They even have a dedicated call centre for taht help you tele book tickets and even home deliver. It has an IVR too… and now to top it all.. they are offering a cool 25% discount on tickets as their launch offer. Thats a cool site to look out for.. Way to go bookmyshow…!

I really don’t agree with this. With the fast roll on of the western influence, India is on the ride of breakups and cases are increasing very fast,

In the last 10 years, this no has doubled and the no is increasing very fast. You may say anything but facts can’t be denied. This is the market they are trapping. And they are not early i think. It is same case when bhartmatrimony started their portal. People said who really wants to marry online. That is all bullshit!!! But see how things changed.
I must say they must be given kudos for giving a platform for these
second timers.
