Nokia N900 Finally Coming to India | Nokia sold less than 100,000 N900 Worldwide

Nokia N900 is finally being launched in India and while the price is not yet disclosed, expect the Maemo-based phone to be priced at Rs. 35K or so.
The launch is imminent (could be as early as next week), as Nokia has started the social media marketing initiative for N900 from this week itself.

N900 has quite a lot of impressive features like powerful OMAP processor with OpenGL ES 2.0 support, 1 GB of Application RAM, 32GB storage  (expandable upto 48GB), 3.5in widescreen touch display, QWERTY keyboard, 5 MP camera, GPS and Quad-band GSM, EDGE, GPRS and WCDMA support, on the hardware side.

On the software side, Maemo 5 has a lot of interesting features like the Mozilla engine based browser, a complete suite of open source applications for Media playback , support for Adobe Flash 9.4, multiple desktops , Widgets and an Application manager.
Another cool thing about Maemo 5 on the N900 is it’s support for multi-tasking which is sure to show an enhanced performance, possibly even better than the iPhone.[our earlier review of Maemo].

N900 Sales Worldwide

Nokia N900 is probably Nokia’s most ambitious project (after the failure of N97) and as per Reuters, Nokia has sold less than 100,000 units in the first five months of the launch [compare this with 8.75mn iPhones in the month of Jan-March alone]

N900 or iPhone?

Here is a great comparison between the two.

    1. Manish Sinha says:

This is pretty obvious. This was the first release and Nokia was testing a Linux based OS for mobiles. N900 is awesome as I heard from friends who own them. Still it is more of a geek toy rather than general consumer phone.
