Couple of days back, I profiled a survey being conducted by Mobisy team on mobile usage/apps etc and the most interesting part about the survey was a brand new Nokia S60 3rd edition handset  – to be given to the most interesting suggestion on apps.

And the winner of the survey is Vibhushan Waghmare, Founder of mQuotient (profiled here) – Congrats Vibhushan (now we have tangible reasons to staying pluGGd.in)!

Meanwhile, here are some findings from the survey:

  • Nokia rules the handset game – 62.3%
  • 48% send 4 SMS a day, 30% send more than 8 SMS a day, 27% send 2-4 sms per day
  • 39% of participants have full GPRS activated
  • “Sharing files” was the most sought after feature (after live phonebook)
  • ‘Searching nearby’ is one of the most useful/requested feature of the participants

Terrific report Mobisy – it does bring out several insights.
innovations are waiting to happen in this space with whatever low bandwidth has been provided by the operators.

LBS and file-sharing features are the next ‘hot’ apps then?
    I couldn’t have agreed more…

I guess that result of this survey shows a subtle and Bigger problem at hand . Media Sharing is biggest “demand” or “desired” feature for mobile but we know that there are more than one application to accomplish that objective . a Bigger problem for mobile is to ensure Application discovery and usage[ usability ] . how do user discover and install app without worrying too much about Compatibility with device ,Nw Dependency etc .
