Carry Bollywood Movies in Your Mobile

BK Modi (he exited from SpiceTelecom) led Spice Televentures has launched Mobile Movie card that enables mobile phone users to watch latest Bollywood flicks on their 320×240 pixel screen.

The Mobile Movie card, priced at Rs. 350 is a 1GB SD card (supports both supports MP4 and 3gp) that contains a full-fledged movie along with ringtones, wallpapers and other trivia (source)

Currently, HotSpot offers limited set of movies (Namaste London, Om Shanti Om, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Omkara and Devdas), and plans to add ~50 movies to their store by Dec 2009.

Nokia earlier tried a similar concept (preloaded Sholay on N91 and N95 phones) and is also launching mobisodes (part of OVI launch).

Indian Entertainment Industry

The Indian Entertainment Industry is estimated to reach Rs.1 trillion by 2011 from its present size of Rs.437 billion; as per IMIMobile’s report (March 2008), ShahRukh Khan and Katrina Kaif led the race for most downloaded bollywood stars in mobile

Who do you think is the most apt segment for Mobile Movie card?

Techies? Cab Drivers, i.e. a typical on-the-go segment?
