MS launches legaladda for lawyers, uses Google’s search engine for the portal

legaladdaMicrosoft India has launched legaladda.com – a community site for legal professionals in India.

MS and Legaladda? What’s the connection?

Because Microsoft is losing 72% of its revenue due to circulation of pirated software and hence, wants to create awareness with regards to IPR laws (source)

The idea is to create a sustainable IPR ecosystem to promote IPR practitioners (and of course, feed MS’s anti-piracy drive)

So far so good, but in my opinion, the biggest beneficiary of piracy in India is Microsoft.

If NOT for piracy and easy availability of Microsoft products, we all would be using Linux (typically the choice is between free-but-geeky-linux vs. pirated-jazzy MS; and the latter always wins).

Though it’s a good initiative to build the legal ecosystem in India, MS should also consider bringing down the product cost (online docs are replacing MS office in geeky workplace; and others will follow soon), if at all it has to remain competitive in the market.

Interestingly, Microsoft is using Google search engine for the portal – goes on to show faith in their own products (i.e. live search).

What says?

    1. It’s an irony that microsoft is using the word “adda” as part of the domain name the legal site.
Although “adda” is a genric name it was popularized by Reliance with the launch of Big Adda.

@Ravi: Very true..infact that was my first reaction too when I first saw the domain.
The site definitely doesn’t live upto MS’s stature. Not too sure why MS is doing what it is doing.

    5. I can’t open the site!

‘Adda’ seems to have become the word now for networking. But Microsoft seems to have done a lousy job when it comes to design and content of the site now. Out of the lot (bigadda, blogadda and now, legaladda), I guess blogadda has superb design. Have you seen it? Ashish, I tried looking for more adda domains and saw that someone has funadda and even sexadda, that is registered a few days back!!
