I several ways tried to post my suggestion to micro soft office but i couldn't get perfect platform. though it irrelevent hereby iam posting my comment.

To fight the piracy menace sell the product at affordable price, that is depending on the economic condition and status of thr country, affordable price can be determined by the survey. if the product production cost is much below the affordable pice regularise the software by online by all means of payments, at affordable price nobody is interested to buy pirated version

Ashish - You are on a roll today.

I feel this drama would be fun to watch and learn.

A few things worth pondering about.

#1. Siebel, Oracle, SAP (and recently photoshop.com ??) ... all failed to get SaaS right by just offering their current applications on the web at a variable price. Success mostly came in SaaS to those who designed their apps ground up for the web and multi-tenant infrastructure ... and lowered the features to a level that it common denominator and self manageable rather than had the same now online.

#2. For years companies like Mi8 and others have offered these MS Office Productivity products online in a SaaS model ... with limited success.

#3. Would it have been more effective to provide synchronisation and collaboration tools (like Outlook does with Exchange ... where u use it offline mostly but can access it online when on the move) for MS Office etc. ... with sharing, security, collaboration, sync across devices facilitated in a way like Google Gears but one that works for MS products ... while assuming most people would still write real world documents offline on their PCs for years to come (which I believe would be the case).

#4. The classic trap described in "Innovator's Dilema" predicts channel clash, margin confusion etc. in trying to introduce disruptive technology in a successful model ... I presume they have plans to defy that some how.

I guess, we are all cursed to live in interesting times.
