Sulekha expands local search to 20 Tier II cities

Sulekha has expanded it’s local search service to 20 tier 2 cities including Jalandhar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Madurai, Nagpur, Surat, Trichy, Trivandrum, Vadodara etc.

Sulekha has an interesting challenge with it’s ‘search’ positioning – it is still perceived as a content + classified portal and even the city pages, look so damn cluttered to not give it a ‘search’ feel (it’s actually meant as ‘browse’ experience and not search).

But, is that the real intent? I am not too sure.

What’s your take on Sulekha’s local search service?

Sulekha was planning an IPO early this year, but not sure whether the plans are still intact (given the current market scenario).

Reliance partnered with Sulekha for it’s CitySearch app on mobile.
