Locomi takes Facebook route – redirects homepage to it’s FB app

Locomi, Bangalore based local search player seems to put it’s bet solely on Facebook for user traction.

The site now redirects to it’s FB app page – which is available for India and Singapore.

I am not sure relying solely on FB for traction is the best route – local search, as I have mentioned earlier is a tough nut to crack.

Apart from data, you need to build locality intelligence and most importantly, plan for distribution.

Relying entirely on FB, in my opinion is not the most optimum route.

What’s your take on locomi’s strategy 2.0? Will it work?

Will you add this app to your FB account?

Thanks for profiling us on pluggd.in, Ashish :) Just wanted to clarify that we are not looking only at Facebook – our Open Social versions for Orkut and Friendster are coming out by end November. Moving onto the mobile platform is also a high priority for us.

The idea is to bring local destinations to existing social networks rather than building a community from scratch. Eventually, we will be bringing all the data and the community onto a central platform at Locomi.com. Would love to know what the community here thinks. Feedback, good and bad is very welcome!
