AskLaila has partnered with Airtel for free local search on mobile, Airtel Live and DTH (which was part of Airtel’s DTH launch).

The service is currently available in 6 cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore and will be expanded to 13 later.

The revenue model is via lead generation as well as sponsored listings

The revenue model for local search, according to Airtel, will be twofold. One from listings-paid listings will be sprinkled with stardust on the screen.

The other model is through each lead conversion-Airtel-Asklaila will charge the advertiser a fixed fee per lead generated through local search. “Each call by a Airtel subscriber via Asklaila.com will be played to the advertiser with a three-second clip saying this lead is brought to you by Asklaila.com – source

AskLaila is also testing click-to-call service in it’s portal.

If you look at the local search market, players are cozying up with operators – Airtel:AskLaila and Google, Reliance:OnYoMo and Sulekha.

Google has launched it’s toll-free service and is taking voice recognition route.

What’s your take on the entire search space? Voice rules over the web? What about mobile?
