UnPluggd is a startup event that brings in India’s most promising entrepreneurs to the stage and have them share their journey with the audience.
The ups & downs of entrepreneurship, the real picture of what it takes to build a technology business in India – the event is a must for entrepreneurs and am glad to share these inspirational videos from the last event (March 6th, 2010).

About the speakers

Mukund Mohan founded BuzzGain (Sold to Meltwater in 2009). He has founded and successfully sold 3 startups before BuzzGain. He was head of product marketinMukundg for Mercury responsible for the direction and customer success of the company’s Application Management solutions. Prior to Mercury, he was Vice President of Operations at Conslient, a software company focused on process automation. In this role, he managed a team of sales and services personnel and was responsible for customer success. In addition, he held product and management positions at Ariba and Asera and began his career at Cisco Systems.

Mukund served on the board of advisors of iConclude, Platform46, Smart Crowds and is on the board of Semantic Defense and Kinetic Brains.

Mukund studied at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County pursuing a master’s degree in computer science and holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and computer science from the University of Mysore in India.

K. Srikrishna is an entrepreneur, writer and father of two girls. In 1999 he founded his first company Impulsesoft which grew from a bootstrapped organization of two people to the global leader in Bsrikrishnakluetooth wireless stereo music prior to being acquired by SiRF Technology Inc in 2006. He’s currently one of the founders of Zebu Communications a pre-launch SaaS startup.

Srikrishna has a PhD and MS from University of California at Berkeley and a BTech from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University. He has over 14 refereed publications in scientific journals and holds one US patent. He has for more than 20 years built and marketed semiconductor and software products at companies including National Semiconductor and Synopsys in the US and Sasken in India.

Rudrajeet Desai managed large scale distribution networks with BPL Mobile and Cadbury (I) Ltd before moving to Brand integration on the mobile platform with Mobile2win and Group M.

RD is a strategy guy and loves this job, sifting through a zillion opportunities for the business and scoping the right ones.

Sunil Maheshwari is the CEO and Co-Founder at Mango Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Sunil has diverse experience in working with global and start-up companies in Mobile handset and

distributed framework in Media Software domain.

Sunil has seen the complete life cycle of a technology software product, where he conceived the idea with other co-Founder and successfully sold it to global technology company Qualcomm, Inc. This is the fourth time he is working in a start-up product creation environment now.

Sanjay Swamy is a passionate entrepreneur and, until recently, played an industry-defining role while being the CEO of mChek, India’s leading Mobile Payments company. During his tenure at mChek, he not only built the company, the product from scratch, but also defined and structured partnerships with leading telecom and banking players – notably Airtel, Tata, Docomo, Visa, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, etc. Prior to mChek, Sanjay has setup India operations for two startups – Ketera and mPortal.

Ashwin Naik is the founder/CEO of Vaatsalya Healthcare, a venture funded company, focused on building a network of secondary care hospitals in Tier II and Tier III towns in India. Winner of the BiD Challenge India 2007 for the best business in development in India, LRAMP Award to Innovation 2008 and 2009 Sankalp Award for Social Enterprise, Vaatsalya currently has eight hospitals in Karnataka, totaling 500 + beds. The mission of the company is to build the largest network of hospitals across Tier II and Tier III towns.

Phanindra Sama is the CEO/Founder of RedBus.in, India’s largest bus tickets aggregator. RedBus was born out of a ‘scratch my own itch’ story and the company has managed to build a strong consumer brand without spending a lot of cash.

Sachin Bansal is cofounder of Flipkart, an online bookstore that has managed to create great consumer brand within a short span of time.

Gaurav Jain started Mast Kalandar together with Pallavi Gupta 5 years back in Bangalore. He did his MBA from IMT Ghaziabad , B.E. from MNREC Allahabad. He worked for 5 years in IT industry with Planetasia (Microland) and Wipro Technologies.

  • Handled Sales and Marketing for various geographies like the US, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia
  • In one of the IT assignments, got to work with Pizza Hut and Wendy’s Australia and picked up interest in the food retail industry
