Travel Industry set for consolidation : TravelGuru grabs Desiya for 100 crores, Travelocity hunting for one..
As expected, TravelGuru has finally announced Desiya acquisition @ Rs. 100 crores ($25 million).
Desiya has 1,000 travel agents and 225 travel portals among it’s clients. It has 1,500 hotels in it’s inventory all over India and has a strong presence in UK. The portal registers 600 transactions a day, over 500 B2B transactions and 100 inbound hotel bookings. [ET]
Desiya’s core strength has been it’s B2B focus and not B2C – they licensed their content to portals like TravelGuru/ClearTrip and IndiaTimes.
Now that Desiya has been lapped up, its time for Inasra to kick in?
Also, Travelocity India is looking out for an acquisition target. Any guesses?
