Nokia to launch OVI (Finally!) – will start with Mobisodes

Nokia Ovi logo.Nokia’s OVI service which was supposed to be launched in Q1, 2008 , then delayed to Q2 is finally seeing some light.

The service is expected to be launched in another few weeks and Nokia has tied up with Hungama for TV mobisodes, which will be the first set of content offering from Nokia.

For starters, Nokia plans to roll out mobisodes in India, which are short duration TV shows customised for mobile phones. Such mobisodes are planned in areas like news, sports, music clips, children’s and entertainment programmes such as soaps, reality TV shows, drama and comedy [ET]

The revenue model will revolve around subscription, which is a hard nut to crack.

Star India launched Mobisodes last year (subscription basis), later realized that the model isn’t working. And ended up giving the content for free (same with Hungama) – it will be interesting to see how Nokia fares in this subscription game.

Whats your opinion? Will you pay for content?
