MTNL has launched it’s 3G service in Delhi, putting India officially in 3G map.
MTNL plans to offer the service free to high-end users and will start charging once the rollout is complete.
BSNL too is launching it’s 3G service in Chennai (by Jan 2009) , but private players will have to wait till Feb 9 for 3G auction.
3G’s major challenge lies in the fact that towers need to be closer to each other and hence, operators owing to their current infrastructure will charge a premium price to the early adopters.

Are you excited about 3G? How much are you willing to shell out per month?
Will iPhone sales soar once private players start rolling out their 3G operation?

I can’t wait for BSNL to start 3G in Bangalore.. considering Airtel will take a long time.
I am eagerly waiting for high speed internet on mobile.. the other services like video calling don’t enthuse me.
Currently, Airtel charges Rs 100 per week for its EDGE mobile office internet plan in Karnataka. I am willing to pay between Rs 150-200 per week depending on the performance.
*keeping my fingers crossed*
I’ve heard Airtel is not going to launch it before mid 2009. Apparently the reason is this that they don’t have any experience in running 3G services.
Vodafone is supposed to release it earlier.
I think Rs 500/month would be pushing it too far. Sweet spot is sub 500
Ashish, why just talk about iphone with reference to 3G when we know that now so many phones support 3G and many of them being far better than iphone.
Anyway, I am eagerly waiting for them to launch the service in Bangalore.

MTNL says its going to rollout 3G services all over INDIA by mid-2009… does this mean it starts 3G services in Karnataka and hence Bangalore , apart from BSNL..????
