How cool is it to know that we have finally managed to beat Nigeria in terms of broadband connectivity!. While the Indian govt. keeps throwing baits, the broadband connectivity scorecard speaks the entire saga.
What’s broadband connectivity scorecard?
Broadband connectivity scorecard is global information and communications technology (ICT) index that measures the extent to which govt.. businesses and consumers make use of connectivity technologies to enhance social and economic prosperity.
India scores lower than China on virtually every major dimension of Connectivity—consumer infrastructure and usage, business infrastructure and usage, and government infrastructure and usage. Literacy in India is substantially lower, and there is a glaring gender disparity in Internet access (only 23% of Internet users are female in India). For India, the immediate Connectivity priority would appear to be better infrastructure provision, followed by better provision of complementary capital (e.g., better overall education).
Nokia Siemens study recommends “India and Nigeria face the daunting challenges of improving performance on basic literacy and access measures, while not falling behind in the deployment of cutting-edge broadband and mobility technologies.”
