8 million GSM Subscribers Added in October

The telecom rally doesn’t seem to slow down – as per COAI’s (Cellular Operators’ Association of India) latest numbers, GSM operators witnessed 8 million subscription in the month of October:

  • The total number of GSM users stands at 242 million
  • Airtel leads the market with 80 million subs
  • BSNL’s share declined to 16.5 per cent [source]

Indian telcos added 10 million subscribers in the month of September. What’s interesting to note is that 30% of new users come from rural India – signs of strong and sustainable growth.
