WordPress 2.6 has been released (a month ahead of schedule) and has couple of cool updates:
- Post Revisions - Like Wikipedia’s version control system, WordPress now allows you to check out the revisions made to your posts.
- Press This!: – Post from wherever you are on the web to your wordpress blog. I guess, most useful feature in this release.
- Theme Preview: Now when you select a theme it pops up a window that shows the theme live with all your content, instead of immediately making it active on your site.
- Enhanced image control/Image captions
- Support for Google gears [more]

Themes/Plugins that work with 2.5 should work with 2.6, as there aren’t any major changes to the wordpress core.
Wordpress raised $29.5mn few months back and honestly, I am surprised with these small releases.
When is the big CMS launch coming up? Isn’t this release more of a plugin-to-core conversion?
Quite lately, I am finding Drupal/Joomla lot more friendly for pluGGd.in – more because of their core as a cms tool (while wp’s core is of a blogging tool) and features that will be used regularly (I don’t think most of the users will use post revision kind of features)

Maybe the ‘big CMS launch’ is for a major version change? After all, this is a point release (2.5 -> 2.6)
fourth consecutive point release isnt a good sign
