TravelYaari – Live Inventory Based Travel Product

Travelyaari is a newly launched travel booking site (currently has data for Western India primarily) and before you ask – why another OTA, here is the big difference /claimed USP:?
Unlike other OTAs, TravelYaari works on live inventory – not on quota booking. They work closely with operators, who use their platform to manage their bookings (think of it as an ERP for the travel agents) – hence, their system works on live data from operators.
Travelyari is the frontend of what the parent company, Mantis is trying to do with other OTAs – i.e. license their platform.

We will share more information about Travelyaari (and their plans) in the coming days. Meanwhile, do share your opinion on Travelyaari – can they be a potential threat to redbus and other bus booking sites who work on quota booking system.

Ashish, I fail to understand the difference between direct booking/quota based booking. How does it help the end user/ Bus operator?

    2. Bablo says:

In case of Quota based inventory the supplier gives you specific bus seats to book against for a period of time and in case you are not able to fill them well in advance, you need to release it back. So you will never be able to take advantage of demand and supply fluctuations.

On the other hand in case of direct booking, you will have the full inventory with you all the time, so there will be no artificial supply constraint.

      Got it. Thanks Bablo

But ticketvala.com did this already and built a great system and expanded all over (they even got a Red Herring award!) – so what’s the differentiator?

TravelYaari.com does not have request based bookings. All the bookings are confirmed on the spot. 70% of bus booking happens at the last moment. Request based booking does not makes much sense in that case. In TravelYaari.com travelers can book tickets till the last minute.

Since Mantis was in B2B business not many people know about it. Mantis Connect has bus inventory of 20,000 bus seats/ day inventory. Through Travelyaari.com Mantis is giving an option to the travelers to directly connect to the platform on which the bus operators do booking. This will also mean that the travelers will instantaneously come to know whenever the bus operator changes the bus or departure time because the operator is also booking on the same platform.
