Social Drinkers more successful than Teetotalers?
And you think drinking alcohol is bad for your health? Well, who cares if you earn more because of your *social drinker* status.
A recent study by Reason Foundation suggests that social drinkers are more successful than their non-drinker pals.
“Drinkers earn 10 to 14 percent more money at their jobs than nondrinkers and men who drink socially, visiting a bar at least once a month, bring home an additional 7 percent in pay, according to a new Reason Foundation report by economists Bethany Peters, Ph.D., and Edward Stringham, Ph.D.
“Social drinking builds social capital,” said Stringham, an economics professor at San Jose State University. “Social drinkers are networking, building relationships, and adding contacts to their Blackberries that result in bigger paychecks.”
Reason’s study finds that men who drink earn 10 percent more than abstainers and women drinkers earn 14 percent more than nondrinkers. The study also finds that those who drink in public have higher earnings that those who drink at home (extroverts vs. introverts?)
Isn’t this a simple logic? Let me explain:
If you are an extrovert, you attend these parties;meet whole lot of people and enhance your social network.
Since you are already an extrovert character, you will anyway meet people/and you will anyway enhance your social network.
Social drinking does enhances your social network/contact lists; which in turns opens door to new opportunities (so don’t forget to carry your visiting card in parties!).
I guess this this is true for smoking as well. If you and your colleagues smoke, you will definitely become great pals (case in point is ‘yours truly’!:). And the best part is if your boss smokes, chances are you will have a damn good *non-smoky* relationship!
Isn’t this true?

LOL ! This is very interesting news.
So now college students have a wonderful reason to justify their drinking actions ! For a better prospective, they gotta drink. Simple enough. This is just excellent news for party-all-time college-goers. Wish this news were out during my college days – I would’ve given an extensive class seminar on this – or at least spread the word.
I totally agree with this – based on my drinking friends’ social networking gang.
Yeah.. I guess the right excuse for drinking!!
