SMSResume is a Hyderabad based startup that enables users to send their resume/CV via SMS.
All Optimize DBone needs to do is register at the website, upload CV/covering letter and one can apply for jobs by sending sms to 9711532380 in the defined format : Resume<space> <emailid>
Well, MyDuniya tried a similar concept (plus more i.e. create/send business cards/search wikipedia etc), but the service was later shutdown (various reasons though).
SMSResume founding team has an experience in recruitment domain and earlier launched mywalkin.com
“We started this journey with mywalkin.com, which is the first of its type job website focusing only one Walkins and Recruitment events. This has been well received by our users with 1 Lakh plus user visits every month. Now after walkins, we are trying to ease the process to apply for a job. We have studied the job market in detail. As Internet connectivity is still poorer in India , it still takes 10 Rs and at least half hr to apply for few openings. Most of the companies don’t allow access to personal emails, thus make it difficult for most of the employees to apply for job. Thru SMSResume, we are trying to give a cool option to send your resume to the HR just by sending SMS.” – SMSResume team
In my humble opinion, the value SMSResume is delivering is very minimal. While it’s fancy to believe that someone will ‘look at ToI Ascent and can send resumes right away’, the bigger competition is the availability of alternate service, i.e. Internet (which is cheaply available).
What’s your opinion? Do you think this service is solving a critical pain?

I still believe , this is very handy .
Great job smsresume team !
This is a good idea considering the current market scenario. I am sure they will get subcribed users who are willing to pay….
They can think of special offers for subscribed users who sends his/her whereabouts and based on that he gets sms on walk-in’s in that locality (city)…because job seekers normally are on the move.
Good luck smsresume.
I am sorry but I don’t see how you will drive users to your website. There are hardly any jobs available these days. And even for the few that are available, people would be cautious to send the resumes themselves rather than rely on some remote server. I would never do that. Its not like its raining jobs these days that some one has to send 10SMSes per day.
You are forgetting the freshers in tier-II and tier-III cities. Internet is not that widely available there. Moreover smsresume saves 5 Rs that people have to pay for accessing cybercafe.
Though I agree with you that it will not be that attractive for experienced people.
I think this makes sense. Even for people who have internet. Many people read newspapers on way to work (bus, train etc) and this looks like a super easy way to send along a resume. The problem for SMSresume obviously is that a large dominant player could copy it very easily.
Harpreet – That’s exactly my point as well. SMSResume is a good feature, but not a self sustaining product.
Core USP is missing.
@prashanth
thanks prashant.We felt delighted We are coming up with wap version which will help u to send resume directly thru mobile if u have gprs connectivity.
@kasi…
We will be integrating this feature of smsresume with http://www.mywalkin.com ‘s SMS Alert Feature. That shd give users added advantage.
@Amit
Even experienced professionals in india dont have access to gmail in offices as is the case with most of the indian companies(Infy wipro Patni)..We hope this can come handy to them.. Imagine u are discussing with friend and he asks u to send the resume..U either tend to forget or u are too late ..
Trust us..ur data is as secured as it is on naukri.com and we wont goof up with ur application.
@Sita
yes sita thats exactly one of the aim..I beg to differ as I think it is useful to experienced guys as well.
@Ashish
Thats though ur concern is right …We hope to make it self sustaining product once we tie up with like minded players like mywalkin..Also our service is free for users..they dont have to pay anything else apart from sms cost as per their plan. Thats what can be our USP.
not enough substance there are too many sites that offer better services all they need to do is add a additional feature where applicants can apply through SMS.
