CampusBooks: Sell your Old Books

CampusBooks.in is a newly launched portal that wants you to sell your old books across college campus or city.

The idea is very simple – If you are a college student, you might want to let go of your earlier semester books and in the process, make some quick money.

campusbooks

CampusBooks is targeting the college crowd in the first phase and will probably open up to IT campuses after a few months. The portal’s attempt is to introduce the buyer and the seller (and not get into the transaction process).

Right now, the site doesn’t seem to have a lot of seed data and I would suggest them to have a “Books that I want to read” section (i.e. wishlist) and also have features that enable interactivity among users.

Give CampusBooks.in a spin and share your feedback.

Take the product tour.

its good to hv such service.
middleman takes away more than 40% otherwise.
But they don hv control ovr the third phase of overall cycle of book selling. Need som interesting ideas for that.
Could work very well within the residential campuses.

nice idea but they need to execute fast. i know that there is a company named Rakofi . stared by a friend of mine in Stanford and his buddy at MLNREC .which was in same space , infact in broader market . this company was haiving a good traction and recently it was acquired at very vry early stage by another BIG and Funded company called Studyplaces .
Studyplaces is havinga backcing of Naukri, KPCB and few more ppl so they will be coming after this market . very soon

best thing to do ll b to approach residential campuses directly. … wom marketing ll follow……
bcoz of the obvious hindrances towards the third phase of bookselling, its better to let user understand that this service is meant for on campus book selling… institute wise categorization ll b better .. instead of general search option for books… second option should be search by location…
      wt u think…

Kamal – CommonFloor has an interesting twist in the book/novel sharing practice – they are enabling apartment dwellers to share books/novels thru’ their portal.

I guess campusbooks need to go beyond the campus and instead be a city specific service.
      What says?
@Prashant – Great Info, as usual
