SchoolMate secures funding from Chennai Fund

Schoolmate an education startup incubated at BITS Pilani has secured funding from Chennai Fund (started by TiE Chapter and comprises of RamaRaj of Sequoia, KBC, Gopal Srinivasan (TVS), Raghu Rajagopal (Energeate) and Ram Mohan (Afilias)).

SchoolMATE (stands for School Mobile Assisted Teacher) is a two-way platform where parents get information about their children (daily routine/conduct/fee reminders etc) and institutes are offered the product as a Managed Service in the SaaS model and serves as a (minimal) CRM + ERP product for schools.

Schoolmate provides software to manage information like class/section management, library management, attendance management etc. and has reporting capabilities like student performance, teacher performance, analysis of financial information, staff payroll, timetable, attendance etc.

    Students in India bear a lot of study pressure, thrusted on them by their parents. This application can result in schools sending too much feedback to parents and thereby adding to parental pressures. I wish this is not just an advance student monitoring tool (from a students perspective).
