You have to specify how many turning you have to skip…
Then specify what direction you have to turn…

For example, What this means…

12,U,3,L,3,R

Here first skip 12 turnings…
Then make a U turn…
Then skip 3 turnings…
Then turn left…
Then skip 3 turnings …
Then turn right…

Easy!!!

The picture used does not go well with the story. The person needs to know “where he is” in order to get direction to the destination.

@Amit: Look around you. Unless u r surrounded by geeky techies who carry iphones and latest nokia nav. phone (wich is very cool), many dont use anything more than sms. we guys constantly think every phone is gprs connected, java enabled, mms supporting, etc. wich is not the real case.
Services like this should be built bottom up… first make people use it, then we can make them use gps and stuff.

look forward to your feedback (and am sure even routeguru guys would want to get a candid feedback on the launch).

IMO, the challenge that I see is lack of good (quality+quantity) data of local businesses on gps. The data needs to go thru’ cleanup and what comes out is too small to launch an app!

Mapmyindia already has a navigational product, so does Nokia

Looks useful. Will try it out when I am in Delhi over the weekend. I wonder why isn’t anybody thinking of building a mobile app using GPS data or even mapping google or yahoo maps.

There is a nokia phone that has a navigational facility. May be Nokia can package it as executable file that can be downloaded at a one time fee and then run on various Mobile OSes.

This is Interesting and useful ! I tried to send sms for delhi, and ( i never gone to delhi) i think its useful !

you know i am brainstorming on simillar stuff for mumbai !
