Guruji goes mobile, adds Gujarati support too

Guruji on mobileGuruji is now available on WAP/GPRS phone and the newly launched mobile app allows users to get local information like movie timings, restaurants, hotels, doctors and malls on their WAP/GPRS-enabled mobile phones.

To use the app, visit www.guruji.com on your phone and get started.

Also, Guruji has enabled Gujarati language search on the site (keyboard works only with IE, as of now) and that takes the language support to Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam (and of course, English).

Quite lately, Guruji’s search results have shown significant improvement and I do hope they add sms search support as well.

Most importantly, Guruji needs do figure out ways to distribute their app/service to publishers, in order to build a brand as well as increase the search query volume.

What’s your take on Guruji?

I am eagerly waiting for the remake of Google Mobile Search With Airtel . I think Guruji should also come up with a similar trendy add and show the Indians that there is something Desi that can rock and compete parallely to big giants in market and i hope the search is going to be as simple as it seems in the near future with this new launch of Guruji Mobile search

  2. [...] search is a big opportunity and search engine Guruji is betting big on that. Orkut too has added local language [...]

I would rather like someone to deliver what they promise than make a lot of promises :) . Haven’t used Guruji before…. I went to the movie timings search & I got this: http://guruji.com/movietiming?hl=en&q=johda+akbar . Compare that too: http://www.google.com/movies?hl=en&near=delhi&dq=movie+timings+delhi&sa=X&oi=showtimes&ct=title&cd=1
If it happens a few more times, don’t think ppl would want to continue going to Guruji for gyan :-) , Yes I did leave a feedback to improve :) . I sincerely hope they pick their core offerings & focus on them than diversify.
