Dimdim raises $6mn
Open source web meeting/conference player, Dimdim has raised Series B funding of $6mn.
The investment is led by Index Ventures, Nexus India Capital, and Draper Richards.
Dimdim is competing head-on with big players like webex and the USP is the decreased TCO of the software.
While the personal edition is free, customers who want to customize or brand their own web meetings need to pay only $99 per year. And institutions who need much larger meetings can purchase Dimdim Enterprise (available in both hosted and onsite versions) for less than 1/2 the cost of existing solutions.
Being open source, Dimdim is also integrated with CRM/LMS software and is open for mashups.

Dimdim investors have an interesting portfolio: Draper Richards invested in Hotmail; Draper Richards and Index Ventures invested in Skype; Index Ventures has invested in a number of Open Source companies including MySQL; and Nexus India’s founder Naren Gupta sits on the board of Red Hat Linux – the most successful open source company.
