CashUrDrive – Get Paid to Display Ads on Your Vehicle

Permission Marketing is in and will very soon hit the road.

CashURDrive is an on-vehicle advertising company that enables vehicle owners to putup ads on their vehicle and get  petrol redemption coupon in return.

Once a vehicle owner registers, cashurdrive ‘pumps’ in vinyl-wrapped ads (covering the four doors and leaving out the boot, bonnet and fenders) and installs a vehicle tracking system (VTS) through which clients can locate their advertisements [source]

As of now, 12,800 vehicles have registered with the site and the company is planning nation wide expansion (in talks with big advertisers as well).

A model like can easily be short-circuited and hence, cashurdrive has taken couple of measures to maintain the sanity in the system.

Apart from vehicle tracking system, petrol pumps also work as check-centres to ensure that the vehicle owners haven’t removed the ads (the stations will redeem coupons only for vehicles carrying the vinyl ads).

Cashurdrive has received Rs. 1 crore investments from VC Hunt Global.

Do give cashurdrive a ride and share your comments.

Do you think this idea will ‘fly’?

Interestingly, the founder shares that this idea came up in one of the discussions@ Orkut group.

Why vehicles only? I am ready to sell the ad-inventory of my t-shirts as well ! ;-)

    2. Sumeet says:

BTW, the technology to display content on T-Shirts is already there…philips announced its LumaLive technology in 2006..some other companies also working on it.

      check out these links
      http://www.research.philips.com/newscenter/archive/2006/060904-decosit.html

      http://www.lumalive.com/business/

      its on wikipedia too
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumalive
It will be in market soon.

    3. Vinay says:

I was about to express just what Nilesh commented above… you can soon see people coming up with ideas like…

      CashUrTshirts (for Guys n Gals)
      CashUrBags (for Students)
CashUrLaptop (for Laptop owners on Move)
      CashUrMobile (for Mobile Owners!!)
CashUrAccessories (for people with Belts, Wallets, Shoes.. etc.)

LoL.. Now I am moving crazy.. that was just a fun.. but its interesting to undestand the idea evolved from Orkut Group! :)

      Good luck CashUrDrive Team! :)

    4. Ankita says:

      Hi,
AWESOME IDEA… Now we need not worry about rising fuel prices..
This IITian might take India by storm.

    5. Hitesh says:

I am ready to sell the ad-inventory of my t-shirts as well !

    6. kamal says:

      Cool!!
Concepts like this can take off well at start..
I guess they ll need to be more creative with Ads being shown.. And they should get choosy about the advertising clients a little more..
As a simple fact advertisements from some sports goods company or others that penetrate through the psyche of people .. ( Can be a religious TV Channel for some and publisher for others)
Besides making a check if ads have not been removed, they should ensure that the customers showing ads should in fact like them… there comes creativity and selection , persuasion of right ad clients on the part of Cashurdrive team..

Right now its – > Ads for Cash

      Can be -> Ads + Value -> Cash :-)

      All the best..

    7. Sumedh says:

Even human bodies are used these days for advertising…

But idea is really awesome, as long as they can maintain sanity…too good… :)

    8. Vivek says:

I would never agree to advertise on a car that I paid for…

I would however, be ready to drive a car that was incredibly and heavily advertised, but owned by the advertiser, and pay for my own petrol…

      :)

    9. Aathira says:

I guess this is a truly awesome idea with regard to cabs. There are so many cabs nowadays, especially with call centres, this is a certain easy route for them to make some cash for their petrol!

How do you get the coupons? Based on what are the amount of coupons decided?

    10. Ellena says:

I mailed them for more information at info@cashurdrive.com.
The coupons are based on many factors and quite an interesting way to get FREE fuel. Variation is from Rs 1000- Rs 5000 worth of Fuel Tank per month per vehicle. Which I personally feel is a good Idea.

I am from advertising world and we work in such innovative medias. To work with CASHurDRIVE is something promising for new gen approach.

    11. Impressive stuff!

Looking forward to spotting these cars on the road :)

    12. Vibhor says:

      WOW!!!!!

I am totally IN for the idea… Is CASHurDRIVE hiring new people??????? This might be the next AUTOMOBILE REVOLUTION .. Lets
      see ..Kudos to Young India..

    13. vipsy says:

      Their site is quite unprofessional.
They are running google ads on pages like ‘About us’, ‘Registration’ etc.. not impressed.

But the idea is good. will have to see the execution.

    14. Vijay Arora says:

True, they are running ads..but who cares!! They have a cash flow model for CAR OWNERS and NOT for the WEBSITE USERS.. A SIMPLE PAGE IS ENUFF FOR SUCH CONCEPT I FEEL..OVER ALL ..I am ready to get my car wrapped for few bucks… Brilliant Idea.. even advertisers are out of space to advertise here in banglore…
      Great Idea

    15. Piyush Gupta says:

Innovative??? Isn’t it a real dirty idea?

      What problem does it solve?

The social pollution it will lead to.

      1. Can’t we already feel the extreme visual noise everywhere on Indian roads that we needed to increase it even more?

While you’re taking a very sensitive turn, a seductive adv. (showing a half nude lady) right at the turn takes so much of the attention that it can lead to serious accident.

      2. Aren’t Indian drivers already too careless? Given these advertisements, won’t it defocus them from driving even more.

For investors it’s a great idea to put money upon. But is there any social responsibility this idea has?

Quite surprised to see that none of the people here talked about the visual pollution it will create for all of us.

    16. Ayush Goyal says:

      Ahem Ahem…
Very true it will increase visual pollution but brother.. y be so pessimistic about such a good idea..
It is like seeing a glass half empty or half full.. When cellphone were coming there were pessimist who always said “It will effect the efficiency” every new idea has to face skepticism.
If we take your questions in optimistic sense here they go:

      1. It will reduce the skyline problem. All the hoarding will shift towards the vehicle. No defacing of building.. no erection of hazardous structures on buildings..
While you talk of enviornment.. I feel this idea is Enviornment Friendly. Since it doesn’t need cutting down the trees and making hoarding.. Reducing the carbonprints of a company.

      2. Advertisment is already there buddy.. I have been seeing them for the past 30 years on the scooter wheels and on state buses… So drivers on road has already got so much distraction.

      3. I feel this is the ONLY way to get the MNC money which was drained out of India back to Indian Pockets.. If sachin and dhoni can earn crores from advertisement why be skeptic and let the common man earn.

In nutshell, lets not be pessimistic and really watch how this idea works.

    17. Piyush Gupta says:

Ayush, these were just the first hand thoughts and no personal trait.

Analogy with cellphone is absolutely misleading. Cellphones solved the basic problem of communication and added mobility to one’s life. What social problem does CashUrDrive solves?.

      Why Social?
Because it rides on the shoulders of the social infrastructure, it better solve some of it’s problems as well.

      Let’s look at your solutions:

      1. What says that it will not co-exist with every other form of advertising? There is no reason for hoardings/banners etc. to go away.

Maintaining the soothe and the aesthetics of the surroundings are also as important as avoiding physical pollution. I only meant that it will lead to extreme visual pollution, which it will for sure whatever we say or discuss.

      2. I’ve not portrayed any problem with advertisement, just that this form is extremely hazardous.

      3. Isn’t it a very shallow thought process? What good will you earn in return to huge visual noise that you add on the road?

Please avoid this term “pessimism”. It’s a constructive thought which I have put across. It needs attention and not skepticism.

    18. Aparna says:

I guess Piyush Gupta is really taking this to heart !!!! It is because of such “SOCIAL RESPONSIBLE” people that TATA has to close down Singrur plant to make west bengal into WASTE bengal.
And now these people can be found on worldwideweb :) .

If at all these social responsible people want to work they should try to reduce the FUEL PRICES and INFLATION which is 12.14% even today and not just write blogs or be “constructive”(read as pessimistic). I am from Banglore and work for an NGO have seen how inflation is effecting a common middle class family.

Mr. Piyush I just visited http://www.cashurdrive.com and they have some advertisement for WHEELCHAIRS and our NGO works for handicap people. Now They have some additional income for handicap wheelchair owner and now I suppose this will answer your “SOCIAL” question What social problem does CashUrDrive solves?.- Ans;Running Income for Handicap people

    19. Piyush Gupta says:

Hey Aparna, Take it easy first :)

The wheelchair example is interesting & certainly makes sense.

Please please do not misunderstand me with any social worker, I myself run a startup and into the so-called innovation industry. We too face such questions from the people in various forums and conferences and hence this thought process has started to develop in our minds.

With no intention to drag all of you into arguments, these were just some thoughts and it is okay for many of you (or even everyone) not to agree with it.

Only sad thing I found was that you sounded sarcastic for social workers. I have no special corner for them but I surely do not undermine each and every entity’s responsibility in this society.

    20. Beeba says:

I’m with you on this one Piyush. Way to take the long view. The comments in this post are so typical of the get rich fast, make a few bucks quick mentality that is so pervasive in India. Clearly people are willing to sell themselves for a few bucks here. Aparna is way off the mark in likening what you are saying to what happened in “Waste Bengal.”

    21. Sumeet says:

I think the comments of this post are very interesting.

      here’s the analysis:

“Perfectly symbolizes the essence of democracy.”
We all have a right to our view but lets not demean others. Freedom doesn’t mean you harm others physically, verbally or any other way…co existence is the key

“A lot has changed in our society…and the change is becoming faster”
There was a time not too long ago…when hardly a few could afford cars and the only choice was fiat or ambassador…today more cars on road is a problem and we are debating the pros & cons of biggest creation of capitalism “advertising”, which is soon going to be on our clothes (read my initial comment to this post)…then body then… even GOD wont like to imagine further!

The world around us changed in last 15 years…at the end of next 15 we will be wondering how it changed again so fast (for more read my blog post http://www.kreeo.com/blog/sumeet/The-niw-read-new-World-Bp2)

“Does society be reactive or proactive to what capitalism expose us to?”
Point to ponder is that things are changing very fast around us and society also evolving…but we as individuals have hardly any control over it…we are drifting…a lot of things around us are not what we desired or ever wanted it to be…like cutting of trees, pollution, poverty, terrorism…but it is there…majority is reactive and loves to gossip(comment) and crib…a minority selflessly devotes it to improving society…Media has made us more aware…but it hasn’t be able to empower the masses to drive a change

CashURDrive is going though a hard time during this global melt down.

    31. Nilesh Jobanputra says:

I’m interested in this scheme & for the same I checked with few people from team associates who are working for cashurdrive. They have some really funny conditions as in, this scheme is only for Chevy Spark & I need to buy the car from them only. Also when u buy the car from them they don’t pass on the company discounts of Rs 60,000 going on right now. If this is the scheme then it is like you are not getting anything for the ads you put on your car for the first year as your are already loosing on the discounts of 60k. Also they are saying that only on Chevy Spark you can put the ads.

I don’t mind buying the Chevy Spark for cashurdrive but with the company discounts. If they are not passing any discounts then I would prefer buying some other car & place ads on them.

If anybody can pass on my these words to the right people at CASHURDRIVE & I can get a transparent deal for me then count me in. Infact I can 4-5 of my friends to buy the car.

    35. sweaty palms says:

Very interesting idea, actually it’s an innovative ‘On-Vehicle’ advertising concept which happens to be the first of its kind in the world.

    36. Akhil Menon says:

Its all fake , Raghu keep hiring people at all locations and dont pay money as one of my friend experienced the sAME , BE CARE FULL WITH HIM , that idea it self doesnt really clicked well , every company had dry run on it and left , they never had any repeated clients giving them business .
Hope by this time it would have almost gone out.

    37. Raghu Khanna says:
