Burrp all set to launch TV listing service

tv.burrpDeap talked about Burrp’s TV listing service around 8 months back and now the team is all set to launch it’s TV guide – tv.burrp.com.

What’s tv.burrp?

“An all inclusive Online TV guide that lets you decide what’s playing where… way ahead of time!” – i.e. most probably a TV listing/guide service which enables users to receive alerts/updates about their fav. TV programmes (mashed up with user reviews/ratings etc) and maybe, watch episodes online too.

Why is Burrp getting into TV listing?

Primarily, because it’s an unattended market – there are couple of portals which focus on TV related news and few new developments like availability of selected TV shows on portals (for e.g. ‘kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi’ available on rajshri/indyaondemand) does validates the viability of big money out there, but the most interesting part is that there is not a single significant big player in the market.
Above all, a TV listing/guide service fits into Burrp’s target segment of ‘lifestyle’ consumers.

What do you think will tv.burrp be? – Syndicated content? Paid service?

Interestingly, US TV listing startups like meevee.com are still sucking wind (they have gobbled upto $12.5mn), so only time will tell, how Burrp’s TV service fares in the market.

I dont agree with Ashish’s comments on TV listings being an unattended market. I work with a TV Channel and we have always been using http://www.zipazap.com as a final word on TV Program listings in India. There are also a couple of other TV listing services such as the one on indiatimes.
