Bangalore Traffic streamed Live – BTIS.

btis: Bangalore Traffic

Bangalore traffic is the talk of the country and is now captured live.

BTIS (read the earlier coverage and this inspiring interview with Ashwin, Founder of BTIS) has partnered with Bangalore traffic police to setup live camera across the city.

MapUnity is an interesting startup for several reasons – their projects are funded by companies like Airtel (as part of Airtel’s CSR initiative) and Ashwin has been very open about sharing their IP (i.e. live traffic api etc) with everybody and all for free!

It’d be great to see BTIS sharing the video feeds for others to mashup and create apps around the traffic jam (suggestions anyone?).

They should make it to view 360 dgree. At any point of time it shows only one direction of that place. in bangalore there always min 3 sided roads. So if they give us to rotate views it could be better to analyse the traffic and make a move.

    Liked the product :)

    Live Traffic cameras ?
Atleast I did not find them live. Instead of streaming video, they are capturing picture and posting it. Those pictures too are several hours old (atleast I found several pictures with timestamp on it and they were 1.5 to 2.5 hours old, that is way too much gap for traffic to be called ‘live’ )

I remember, sometime ago, there were traffic camera streams available on sify and they were really ‘LIVE’.

er.. i dont think thats true ‘Vipul’.

I had spoken to the traffic DCP myself and he says that they would actually analyze this feed and manage traffic based on certain congestion patterns in the videos.. Its a great initiative.. Good job guys
